THE RE-MEMBERING SPACE
Sometimes we reach a point in life
where we begin to look more closely at the story we have been living
We may notice patterns that keep repeating, expectations we have carried for years, or questions about identity and belonging that have never quite settled.
The Re-Membering Space offers a quiet place to pause and reflect on the influences that may have shaped your life — including family history, inherited roles, and the wider structures that earlier generations lived within.
These conversations are for people who wish to understand their life story more deeply, and who are curious about how the past may still be shaping the present.
Re-Membering Meetings
Understanding the story you inherited so you can live your life with greater freedom
The Re-Membering Space is a quiet place for thoughtful conversation and reflection.
It is for people who wish to explore their life story in a wider context — considering the roles, expectations, and historical influences that may have shaped the path they have taken.
These conversations are inspired by the ideas explored in the book, The Re-Membered People, and offers a place where those ideas can be reflected on in a personal way.
Together we explore the experiences, family influences, and inherited patterns that may be present in your life, allowing your story to be seen with greater clarity and perspective.
Many people find that when they understand their story in a wider context, some of the pressure they have been carrying begins to loosen.

The Spirit of the Re-Membering Space
These conversations are guided by a few simple principles.
Listening with care
This is a space where your story can be spoken and heard without judgement or interruption. Careful listening often allows new understanding to emerge naturally.
Seeing life in a wider context
Many of our choices and pressures do not begin with us alone. We gently explore the roles, expectations, and historical influences that may have shaped the story you are living.
Honouring personal reflection
The purpose of these conversations is not to offer solutions or advice, but to support deeper reflection. Each person remains the author of their own life and continues their own thinking beyond the conversation.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A RE-MEMBERING MEETING
Each meeting is a thoughtful one-to-one conversation.
You are invited to speak about your life story or a situation that feels important to you at this time.
As you speak, we listen together for the influences that may have shaped your experiences, including:
-
family roles and expectations
-
inherited patterns across generations
-
moments in family history that changed the course of life
-
cultural or historical pressures that shaped identity
These reflections can help reveal the wider story surrounding your experiences.
There is no expectation to reach conclusions or make immediate changes. The purpose of the conversation is simply to bring clarity and perspective to the story you are living.
2
WHO THIS SPACE MAY BE HELPFUL FOR
The Re-Membering Space may resonate with people who:
-
feel they are carrying expectations that did not begin with them
-
notice repeating patterns in relationships or life direction
-
are curious about how family history has shaped their path
-
live between cultures or identities and want to understand that experience more deeply
-
sense that parts of their family story were never fully spoken about
-
are at a turning point in life and wish to reflect on the next chapter
Many people who come to these conversations are simply wanting to understand their life more deeply.
3
THE INTENTION OF THE SPACE
The purpose of these conversations is not to analyse or fix, but to create a place where a life story can be spoken and understood in a wider context.
Often, when the influences shaping our lives become visible, we discover that we have more freedom and choice than we first realised.
Many people leave these conversations feeling lighter, simply from recognising which expectations truly belong to them and which may have been inherited, allowing them to make clearer choices about their life.
